Dis/connected

Inktober 2017 - Day 8 - websiteI created this piece during Inktober 2017. I was inspired by a sculpture I saw at the Walker Sculpture Garden whose body and face was split into two. I wanted to apply that concept to a self-portrait, since I so often feel disconnected from myself and from others. The x’s in the background represent cross-stitched paj ntaub, which is another art-form I use to weave together traditions, cultures, and stories.
